Inert, Stable, Clean from Bag to Bed
Sand installed under water is a chemistry problem before it's a finish problem. The wrong material raises pH, clouds the water, clogs filters or leaches colour. The right material is chemically inert, naturally graded and clean enough to settle quickly and stay there.
